Sixty eight regiments of Pennsylvania Infantry and one regiment of milita are honored by monuments at Gettysburg. Several have more than one monument. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania made funds available in 1889 to erect monuments on Civil War battlefields, and a number of units that had already put up monuments using their own funds used the state money to erect a second (and usually bigger and better) monument.
