Big Round Top and Little Round Top on the Gettysburg battlefield as seen from Confederate lines

Looking southeast from West Confederate Avenue toward Big Round Top (the taller of the two hills, on the right) and Little Round Top (on the left). The hills are around three miles distant. The 44th New York monument can be seen just to the left of the Vee between the two hills, with the 91st Pennsylvania monument in the cleared space to its left. The cleared space had just been logged before the battle, giving Little Round Top more strategic value than its heavily wooded neighbor.
